Research On Selective Breeding, Experiment And Cultural Technique Of A New Maize Variety Eyu No.28

Eyu No. 28 (original code number T001) is a new maize variety whi h has been examined and approved by the Crop Variety Examination and Approval Committee of Hubei Province, and included in promoted plan of new maize variety of Enshi in the host in 2006. This article reports the result of selective breeding, experiment and cultural technique research for Eyu No. 28. It analyzes the parents consecutive selection, the pattern of heterosis, the results of output, quality, resistance, scene inspection and appraisal, large-scale field demonstration and cultural technigue. It discusses the maize breeding goal, using of the maize idioplasm group race, the construction of the regional pattern of heterosis, and the question of setting up good variety with good cultural technique in new time.The main conclusions and arguument are as follows:1. The result of selective breeding and experiment about Eyu No. 28 indicates that it is feasible about proper attention to good agronomic character, high production, high quality, being many kinds of resistance and high breeding production.2. As the full development and the accurate division of maize idioplasm, and according to the maize breeding goal and the regional maize pattern of heterosis , it's extremely important that we carry on the direct choice to goal hybrid. TDuloog is the female parent of Eyu No. 28, faces the direct choice with long cob, thick stem, width and thick leaf on ear of position, and high bulk specific gravity grain. As the male parent, T78512 faces the direct choice with thick cob, many cob lines and good resistances. Eyu No. 28 has gathered the parents' characters.3. Eyu No. 28 performs high and stable production. In 2004-2005 in maize regional experiment of Enshi of Hubei Province, the average output is 9776. 85 kg/hectare with a 16. 6% increase compared with Nongda 108 (as a comparison).
