Dairy cattle production was one of mainstay industry of Liuzhou area. However the annual average milk yield was too low, which was mainly resulted in mastitis besides the cow species. The mastitis was mainly caused by pathogenic microorganism ,and the predominant one was Staphylococcus aureu, Streptococci and Escherichia coli. The objective of this study was to investigate mastitis and have a compare with its treatment in this area.LMT method was used to determine 525 cows on two farms. The results were as follows: the rate of subclinical mastitis, clinical mastitis and mammary positive was 41.71% (219/525), 8.38% (44/525) and 21.95%, respectively. There were some relationships between subclinical mastitis and cow's age, parity, lactating phases and cattlehouse. The risk was due to elder, more parity cow and during mid-late lactating phases.122 times of 17 kinds bacteria were isolated from 50 milk samples of 50 dairy cows . And 47 times (38.52%), were Staphylococci and 34 times were Staphylococcus aureus , 22(18.03%) ones were Streptococci, 15 ones (12.30%)were Escherichia coli, and the rest 38 times of 8 kinds were other bacteria such as p.aeruginosa and proteus species and so on . That was 68.85% of bovine mastitis was caused by Staphylococci, Streptococci and Escherichia coli, especially Staphylococcus aureus .It was rare that the infection caused by only one bacteria, and 78.00% were mixed with two-three bacteria. The results of drug sensitivity tests were shown that the predominant bacteria in this area were resistant to Penicillin and Streptomycin, while sensitive to Gentamicin, Amikacin, Ciprofloxacin and Lincomycin and Chinese herbal medicine Treatment results which were assigned to Chinese herbal medicine, Combination of Chinese and western medicine and Ciprofloxacin were shown that the curable rate of ombination of Chinese and western medicine group was high to 100% ,which was significantly (P<0.05) higher than herbal medicane group (52.94%) and Ciprofloxacin group (68.75%). It was indicated that the best treatment of mastitis was Chinese Western drugs.
