Inorder to investigate some species of the Genus Viburnum,the author introduced some varieties from abroad,their adaptations,ornamental values and cutting propagation of 2 species were conducted.Some species of Viburnum which can adapt to special climatic conditions of Shanghai area were selected. The results were summarized as follows:1. 21 species or (varieties) of the Genus Viburnum were collected from Sichuan,Zhejiang provinces and France,Belgium,including 10 deciduous species,12 evergreen species,13 original species and 9 horticultural species.2. 6 Viburnum species were used as experimental materials to test their tolerance to heat stress.Three indexes,such as Water content,Proline content and Chlorophyll content of Viburnum leaves were tested on the controlled conditions.The results showed that high temperature stress led to Proline content increasing,which might be a mark selecting for injury Index.At the same time chlorophyll content could be used as a indicator for selecting heat-tolerance.Evergreen species were higher heat-tolerant than Deciduous species.3. Integrated field observations and laboratory physiological indicators analysis of heat resistance,9 species have strong resistance and high ornamental value,they could be used to urban greening in Shanghai such as V. opulus,V. burkwoodii,V.×pragense,V.×carlcephalum,V. rhytidophyllum'Willowood',V. opulus'Roseum',V. plicatum f.tomentosum,V.carlesii'Aurora'.4. The use of plant growth regulator (PGR) could significantly improve the rooting rate of V.×burkwoodii and V.×carlcephalum.100mg/LIBA treated the roots for 21hrs increased root length,root rate,the numbers of V.×burkwoodii root.Among of the all treatmengts 150mg/L IBA for 21hrs was best effevtive on the growth of V.×carlcephalum.
