60 North hybrid young geese(Northeast Goose×seed goose)and 60 Lai-zi geese–seed young geese (seed goose×Rhine goose)with equal sex ratio were selected to conduct a 12-week feeding trial from the beginning of a day old in an attempt to determine growth performance, body size, slaughtering indicators, meat quality traits, as well as the serum biochemical indicators of two hybrid geese.The trial aimed at laying a basically theoretical foundation for further investigation, preservation and utilization, novel strain cultivation, identification and disease prevention. Meantime, the difference degree and relationship were explored to screen the optimal goods geese suitable for growing in North areas.The result showed that, as for growth performance, given the identical feed and breeding conditions, the body weight of Lai-zi geese was 20.2% higher than those of North white geese at 12 weeks age. (P <0.05). However, there existed no significance concerning feed/growth ratio(P>0.05)throughout the test. As we could find, the growth performance of Lai-zi geese goose is superior to the North Goose.For the production of meat and slaughtering performance, Lai-zi gooese was superior to North white goose but had no significance in physical traits(P>0.05).The water binding force, tenderness and cooked meats rate were higher than those of Lai-zi geese. Morever, the fat and protein content were 39.31%, 9.95% higher than the counterpart. In the length and fineness of velvet and the weight of 1,000 velvets existed the significance (P<0.05)compared with Rhine-seed geese. Extreme significane stood in the content of lipid(P<0.01).These indicated the high meat production of Lai-zi geese and superiority of meat trait and velvet quality in North white geese.Blood biochemical indices of Lai-zi Geese and North White Geese were different between week age, Glu were lower North White Geese than those of Lai-zi Geese in 4 month age (P<0.05), the concentration of ALT between Lai-zi Geese and North White Geese had significant differences in 4 and 8 month age(P<0.01). Blood biochemical values of P, Lai-zi Geese are below those of North White Geese in 12 month age(P<0.01); The concentration of TG were on the opposite direction(P<0.05).From 4 week to 12 weeks of age, The concentration of LDH-L, ALP concentration gradually lowered while blood biochemical of TG, HDL-C, AST gradually increased. No significant differences were observed in ALP, Mg,γ-GT, LDH-L between Lai-zi Geese and Lai-zi Geese (P>0.05).Conclusion: (1) growth performance between two spieces were measured and compared to learn that the growth performance of Lai-zi geese is superior to the North Goose. (2) Lai-zi geese possess higher meat yield and meat production rate while meat quality and velvet quality of North white geese is better. (3)Throughout estimation and analysis in the terms of economy, given identical breeding conditions, the profit from breeding North white geese is high, thereby a excellent breed of meat goose.
