In the Cross Region between farmland and grassland in north area of Yinshan Mountain, there are some problem on oat production, for example: the phenomenon of mixed varieties is serious, backward cultivated pattern, low yield per unit area and so on. In order to solve these problem, I aimed at effect of different cultivating methods on growth and yield of oat in this study. The region of Wuchuan County of Inner Mongolia Province in the semiarid region of northwest China was chosen as case study, and some field experiment be studied during 2006-2008. Include 14 tested varieties of oat were compared, different cultivating methods on growth and yield of oat were studied and use random sampling method to investigate the weed species and their distribution in No-tillage oat Fields. Efficacies of 7 herbicides in No-tillage oat field were compared. The results showed as follows:1. The results of two year's variety comparative test in the Farming-Pastoral Ecotone showed that:During the 14 tested varieties, Yanke1 has both a moderate growth period and a high adaptability. The yield is high and stable and the average yield of oat was 1546.5kg/hm2 in two years. It was the suitable variety to spread considering yield and quality of naked oat and economic effectiveness in the Farming-Pastoral zone.2. The result shows that the optimum planting date is from May15 to 30, the best fundamental seedlings is from 120 to 150kg per hm2. Indicate oat yield is affected badly if it is sowed too earlier or too later. Sowing stage later than the june 1 might result in abnormal maturation.3. Soaking Seed with Chemicals can break dormancy and the seed can be germination 2-3 days ahead. The birth rate of yellow humic acid+salicylic acid was 90.5%, Compared with CK, the birth rate increase 8 %.4. Combined application of fertilizers is an important approach to obtain high yield. Fertilizer application could increase the dry matter accumulation and yield of oat. The results showed that: As far as grain yield, the most appropriate nitrogen fertilizetion for recommendation is treatment N2-N3 with nitrogen rate of 90-120kg/hm2 and base to topdressing N ratio of 1:1. And the most appropriate phosphate fertilizetion for recommendation is with phosphate rate of 60-90kg/hm2. The appropriate use amount of organic fertilizer was 15t/hm2.5. Use random sampling method to investigate the weed species and their distribution in No-tillage oat Fields. Efficacies of 7 herbicides in No-tillage oat field were compared. The weed occuring are serious and the broadleaf weeds were the main weed. It has better effect to apply 2.25 liter Glyphosate per hactre. The 2,4-D butylate and tribenuron had a good effect to control broadleaf weeds in oat field. Under the combination of above conditions, the yield of oat increased by more than 30%.
