This paper made a systematically and comprehensively analysis for the characteristic of flue-cured tobacco quality in Nanping area mainly form four aspects including the appearance quality, sensory quality of smoking, routine chemical components and aroma components. It compared the differences of quality between Nanping area and other classical characteristic areas, and studied the relationship between tobacco quality and chemical components, definited the main chemical components influenced quality, put forward some quality indexes of high-qualiy tobacco leaves in Nanping area. All these results provided cigarette industry with many important references about how to rational utilize Nanping tobacoo leaves, and provided some important theoretical basis for the further improving of quality, directional cultivation and scale development of Nanping characteristic tobacoo leaves. The specific results were as follows:1. The characteristic of flue-cured tobacco appearance quality in Nanping areaThe maturity was better, all the tobacco leaves were ripe; the main color was orange; the structure of upper leaves was in the category of open to close, but the middle and the lower were open; the color intensity of middle and upper leaves were in the category of moderate to deep, but the lower was in the category of weak to moderate; the oil of middle and upper leaves were in the category of oily to rich, but the lower was less oily to main; the body of upper leaves belonged to the category of medium to more fleshy, and the middle was in the range of less thin to medium, but the lower was less thin to main.2. The characteristic of flue-cured tobacco sensory quality in Nanping areaThere were three main types of aroma in Nanping, that were the type of enrich but biasing middle, the type of enrich and delicate, the type of enrich, and the number of first one was the most, the second one was middle, the third one was the least; the strength was moderate to main; the concentration of flue gas was in the category of medium; the emission of aroma was in the category of medium; the quality of aroma was better; the amount of aroma was full; the after-taste was comfortable; the miscellaneous gas was lighter; the irritation was in the category of low to lower; the combustibility was medium; the color of ash was gray; the quality grading of middle leaves was higher, which was in the category of higher medium to better, but the quality grading of upper and lower leaves were lowish, which was in the category of medium to even better.3. The characteristic of flue-cured tobacco chemical components in Nanping areaIn the aspect of routine chemical components, Nanping area had its own unique style, the contents of total sugar, reducing sugar, starch and potassium were high, and it was significantly or very significantly higher than other areas; the contents of total nitrogen, total alkaloid, volatile base and chlorine were low, and it was significantly or very significantly lower than other areas. In the aspect of aroma components, the differences between Nanping area and Hunan area were the smallest, the indexes of no significant differences were the most, so it had the characteristic of enrich aroma type, and the differences with other areas were bigger, the most indexes were higher than other areas.4. The quality indexes of high-quality flue-cured tobacco in Nanping areaIn the upper leaves, total sugar was 24.42%~31.02%, reducing sugar was 22.40%~27.88%, total nitrogen was 1.75%~2.08%, total alkaloid was 2.42%~3.55%, volatile base was 0.29%~0.40%, margin two sugar was 0.89%~4.27%, ratio of sugar to nitrogen was 11.01~15.60, ratio of sugar to alkaloid was 6.45~11.22; in the middle leaves, total sugar was 30.26%~38.91%, reducing sugar was 26.69%~32.36%, total nitrogen was 1.45%~1.78%, total alkaloid was 1.28%~2.18%, volatile base was 0.16%~0.26%, margin two sugar was 2.10%~8.02%, ratio of sugar to nitrogen was 15.38~21.78, ratio of sugar to alkaloid was 12.41~24.54.5. The relationship between sensory quality and chemical components of flue-cured tobacco leaves in Nanping areaIn the routine chemical components,the starch, total alkaloid, volatile base and ratio of two sugars had a larger influence on sensory quality of smoking, and a significant correlation was indicated. In the aroma components, 3-acetylpyridine, lauric acid, malonic acid, myristic acid,α-pinoresinol, geranylacetone, ethyl cinnamate, 2-ethylpyridine, nonanal, pentadecane, oleic acid and linoleic acid, megastigmatrienone-D, dihydroactinidiolide, methyl palmitate, had a larger influence on sensory quality of smoking, and a significant correlation was indicated.
