Auricularia auricula is a delicious mushroom with health care value, and has been successfully cultivated in many areas in China. Heilongjiang Province is a primary producing region of which the Auricularia auricula products have been widely favored by domestic and foreign people. Auricularia auricula industry has greatly promoted the local economic development. Both assessment on the genetic diversity and identification of Auricularia auricula germ plasm are the basis of protection, breeding and utilization of this germ plasm, protection of the brand of Auricularia auricula of Heilongjiang's, and promotion the quality management of the mother spawn. In this paper, 32 strains of Auricularia auricula which were mainly cultivated in Heilongjiang Province were used to study their training characteristics and phylogenetic relationships. The main results were as following:1. Auricularia auricula net colony diameter (excluding vaccination block) ranged from 5.9cm to 8.0cm. The average growth rate of the 32 strains were 0.59-0.89cm/d, among which strain YF1 had grew fastest, while strain 984 slowest. For the growth potential, strains H29, DM3, 9809, 2009, YF2, JF7 YF1 were good, with round colonies, dense mycelium and white color; while strains 984, 960, JH3, JF38 SH1 were bad, with irregular colony shape, sparse mycelium and off-white color.2. The phylogenetic tree, reconstructed on rDNA-ITS sequences, showed that the 32 strains may be recovered into 8 groups. Strains 988, as well as JF6, 916 and 938, form a group alone. The other strains form 4 groups. There are 88% homology between strain 988 and others which have high homology (96-100%) between each other. These results indicate that Auricularia auricular in Heilongjiang Province has certain heredity difference, but not rich on the whole.3. Most of the strains had antagonistic line between each other, which implicated that there are genetic diversities among them. But some antagonistic lines were apparent (988 and JF6, 938 and SH1), while others were not (trains 960 and JF7, JH3 and SH5). These results were agreed with those from ITS sequences analysis.
