Study On Cut Flower Produciton And Bulb Succession Rule Trail Of Gladiolus

The study was based on the climate of Shannxi, took Priscilla,Blue Spirit, Traderhorn,Pink Lady, Jacksonville Gold for material, which were introduced from abroad and planted several years in Shannxi already. They were cultivated in Yangling from March 2008 to March 2010, the cutting flower produciton and the succession rlule of the five cultivars were observed. The results provided the excellent varities and grades which had little degradation from the tested materials. The results were as followes:1. The results of study on cultivation of cutting flower and the bulb propagation showed: The cutivars of Priscilla and Blue Spirit had little degradation, still could produce excellent cut flower; Prislla and Pink Lady propagated most bulblets, could be choosed as the material for propagation; Jacksonville Gold had aleady degenerated seriously, unsuitability for cultivation any longer; Traderhorn had more relationship with the grades of bulbs. The study also showed that the character expression of Glaiolus had great relationship with the grades that diviedd from the diamter of the bulbs, generally speaking, bulbs of theâ…¡,â…¢grades could be the material for cut flower; bulbs ofâ…£,â…¥grades could be the material for propagation; bulbs ofâ…¤grades that suitabled for planted for one year, then cultivated for cut flower materaial; the bulbs of gradeâ… should be based on the cultivars of Gldiolus.2. The succession rule of the bulbs showed: the cultivars of Priscilla and Pink Lady both behaved that the performance of traits of the bulblets had gereat relationship with the mother-bulbs. When the moter-bulb under a high infection grade, then the bulbs had late bud time, dwarf interstock and had high dieease index. The bigger the diamrter of the bulblets ,the more influence by the moter-bulb. There had more closely related to the T/L ratio of the bulbs.3. Effects of different grades and T/L ratio of bulbs on cut flower in gladiolus showed that not all the bulbs with great diameter were unsuitable for cut folower produtciton: the results showed that T/L ratio between 0.9 and 1.5 were the best for the cultivars of"Priscilla". the T/L ratio between 1.2-1.8 of Blue Spirit under gradeâ… showed no sigificant degradation, could produce the frist rank cut flower. However, when the T/L ratio was greater than 1.8, the disease index of the two tested cultivars would raised remarkably.
