Objective: To explore the expression of P73, P53 and p21WAF1/CIP1 in human glioma, and the correlation between the expression of P73, P53 and p21WAF1/CIP1.Therefore, to study the role of P73 in the developing and malignant changing progress of human glioma. And to bring the character of the expression of P73 in glioma to light.Methods:We studied 60 cases of human glioma, including 20 cases of grade â… ï½žâ…¡, 20 cases of grade â…¢, 20 cases of grade â…£, We used 11 cases normal cerebral tissue as control group. Immunohistochemistry (ABC)was used to examine the expression of P73 in gliomas and normal cerebral tissues;and immunohistochemistry(SP) was used to examine the expression of P53 and p21WAF1/CIP1 in gliomas and normal cerebral tissues.Results: There was not significant difference between the expression of P73 in the grade â… ï½žâ…¡glioma and normal cerebral tissue(χ2=0.818,P>0.05).There were significant difference between the expression of P73 in the grade â…¢ and â…£glioma and normal cerebral tissue(P<0.05, χ2=5.011 and 6.229). There were significant difference between the expression of P73 in the grade â…¢ and â…£glioma and grade â… ï½žâ…¡glioma (P<0.05,χ2=8.640 and 10.417).There was not significant correlation between the expression of P73 and P53 in glioma(r=-0.198, p>0.05). Also, there was not significant correlation between the expression of P73 and p21WAF1/CIP1 in glioma(r=0.183, p>0.05).Conclusions: â‘´ The lower the grade of glioma, the higher the expression of P73 gene is. The over expression of P73 gene in the malignant glioma, supposes that P73 gene should take part in the developing and malignant changing progress of human glioma, and that P73 should not be a tumor suppressor gene.⑵ There was not significant correlation between the expression of P73 and P53?p21WAF1/CIP1 in glioma.⑶ P73 should be a two-gene-in-one .DNp73 expression is dominant in the expression of p73 in human glioma,that should be a oncoprotein.
