Clinical Study On Effect Of Point Application Of Herb And Western Medicine On Treating Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Objective:To compare the results of a combination of antihistamine and corticosteroid spray in nose with an addition of point application of herb on the basis of the above mentioned two therapies on treating perennial allergic rhinitis(PAR). Therefore,observe the improvement of the patients' symptoms and syndromes,in order to find out an effective method of treating PAR.Methods:Seventy-six patients of PAR adjusted to the criteria were randomly divided into two groups of the same number.Both of the groups had almost the same clinical precondition,without apparent differences.The control group of 38 cases took antihistamine and sprayed corticosteroid in nose at a term of one month.The treatment group of 38 cases took an additional therapy of point Application of herb as well as the above mentioned two.The experienced prescription was used to stick to the points which were Dazui point and Feishu,Shenshu,Neiguan points of both left and right in the dog days.Each with 2,4 hours,once every 10 days,the course of the treatment was one month.Observe and compare the improvement of the patients' symptoms and syndromes in the two groups at both the end of the therapy and one year after the treatment.And make notes of their negative effect,so as to evaluate the clinical effect of the two therapies.Results:The two treatments were both effective on treating PAR.At the end of the month of the treatment the numbers of excellent effect of the two groups were fourteen twelve respectively,the effective numbers were twenty-two twenty-one respectively,and the ineffective numbers were two five respectively the total effective rate of the treatment group was 94.7%,while that of the control group was 86.8%,and there were no significant differences between the two groups(p＞0.05),One year after the treatment,the total effective rate of the two groups were all reduced,the numbers of excellent effect of the two groups were fourteen four respectively,the effective numbers were eleven eight respectively,and the ineffective numbers were thirteen twenty-six respectively the total effective rate of the treatment group was 65.79%,while that of the control group was 31.58%.But there were significant differences between two groups at the degree of reduction(p＜0.05),which indicate the treatment group was more effective than control group.The incidence rate of blister on the patients was 2.63%during the treatment,and no obvious bad effects on the whole or parts of the body were observed.Conclusions:The point application of herb in the dog days can effectively cure PAR.It can enhance the ability of the organism's resistance against the diseases,so as to reduce the times of the attacks,and to improve the clinical symptoms.The therapeutic effect of it wasn't significant in short term,but had a long-term therapeutic effect,and last longer.The treatment was simple and has no negative effect.It was a safe and effective measure of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy in a surgical way.
