Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of Caspase-3 and Survivin and its implication in Hepatoblastoma (HB). Method Immunohistochemical technique (streptavidin-biotin peroxidase method) was used to detect the expression of Caspase-3 and Survivin in 22 cases with HB, 9 cases with noncancerous adjacent liver, 4 cases with normal liver in childhood, 8 cases with normal liver in adult period. Results (1)The expression of Survivin: The staining of Survivin was mainly located in the cytoplasm of HB. The expressions in HB, noncancerous adjacent liver, normal liver in childhood, normal liver in adult period were 100%, 33.3%, 25.0% and 0 respectively. In the normal liver or noncancerous adjacent liver, the expression was significant lower than that in HB (P<0.05). In the normal liver in adult period, the expression was not associated with that in childhood (P>0.05). (2)The expression of Caspase-3: The staining of Caspase-3 was mainly located in cytoplasma. The expressions in HB, noncanceerous adjacent liver, normal liver in childhood, normal liver in adult period were 81.8%, 55.6%, 0 and 87.5%. In the normal liver in childhood, the expression was significant lower than that in HB (P<0.05). In the normal liver in adult period, the expression was significant lower than that in childhood...
