AIM: To study the inhibitory effect and mechanism of jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe on the mouse transplanted sarcoma 180 in 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days. METHODS: 150 mice were devided into 5 groups randomly: Sodium Chloride group, 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group, jiedu group. 0.2ml of prepared sarcoma 180 cell suspension was inoculated subculnaneously to each mouse and oral liquid was given to mice for 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, respectively; then 10 mice were killed randomly in each group. The inhibiting rates were evaluated by weight method; PCNA and p27kip1 protein's expression were evaluated of the sarcoma 180 tissues by Envision method.RESULTS: In 7 days the inhibiting rates of 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipegroup, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 were 68.95%, 66.55%, 51.47%, 41.02%, respectively; In 14 days the inhibiting rates of 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 were 65.68%, 60.83%, 54.52%, 42.22%, respectively; In 21 days the inhibiting rates of 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 were 45.71%, 47.27%, 56.37%, 33.66%, respectively; In 7 days the PCNA protein expression LI(labelling index) on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 of Sodium Chloride group, 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group were 62.92%, 18.63%, 15.05%, 28.94%, 31.55%, respectively; In 14 days the PCNA protein expression LI on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 of Sodium Chloride group, 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedurecipe group were 64.44%, 22.99%, 27.79%, 25.45%, 35.98%, respectively; In 21 days the PCNA protein expression LI on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 of Sodium Chloride group, 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group were 66.52%, 23.10%, 43.65%, 21.70%, 42.73%, respectively; In 7 days the p27kipl protein expression LI(labelling index) on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 of Sodium Chloride group, 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group were 27.80%, 63.92%, 84.48%, 63.81%, 50.19%, respectively; In 14 days the p27kipl protein expression LI on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 of Sodium Chloride group, 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group were 18.45%, 55.96%, 64.17%, 62.91%, 40.90%, respectively; In 21 days the p27kipl protein expression LI on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 of Sodium Chloride group, 5-FU group, jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group were 14.98%, 53.72%, 36.33%, 60.72%, 32.35%, respectively.Conclusions: The anti-tumor effects on mouse-transplanted sarcoma 180 of jiedu xiaotan sanjie recipe group, xiaotan sanjie recipe group and jiedu recipe group were significantly in 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days. The anti-tumor mechanisms might be related to their function as regulator of PCNA > p27kipl protein expression. The xiaotan sanjie recipe group had significantly high and stable anti-tumor effects in 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days. The xiaotan sanjie recipe might be used as a good anti-tumor treatment recipe. During the treatment term of sarcoma 180, adding jiedu recipe to xiaotan sanjie recipe might promote the anti-tumor effect.
