| INTRODUCTIONAllergic rhinitis is a common diseaes in the global. The patiens of allergic rhinitis is twice as much as those in recently 10-20 years. Incidence of a disease(Allergic rhinitis) is between 10 % 30 % .However, little is known about its mechanism of allergic rhinitis. More and more study indicated that there is close relation between allergic rhinitis and immunitly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between Interleakin-13(IL-13) with allergic rhinitis and its effect on total plasma IgE levels .SUBJECTS AND METHODS Subjects and groupingEighty patients from Wenzhou People's Second Hospital between September 2004 and January 2005 were enrolled in this study. They were divided into two groups: the allergic rhinitis group(19 males and 21females;mean age 31.2 years;age range 20-42 years) and the healthy group (22 males and 18 females;mean age 32.2 years;age range 21-45 years).There were no statistical difference among the two groups in gestational age ,sex. MethodsIn order to examine serum levels, 2ml perpheral vein blood was obtained from both the the allergic rhinitis group and the healthy group..All samples were centrifuged at 1500 rpm for 10 minutes and then stored at -30 ℃. Serum levels IL-13 and tIgE were assyed using ELISA. Kits were provided by Taike Co(Chinese) Statistical analysisAll data were processed with SPSS 6.0 for windows. IL-13 is a 10 KD cytokine produced by antigenstimulated T cells. IL-13strogly inhibits the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines by endotoxin-activated mononuclear cells.Date from this study showed IL-13 significantly increased in the Allergic rhinitis compared with healthy group. Also,there were significantly changes in the levels of The total plasma IgE.These observation indicate that IL-13 and tlgE may be useful as indicators in the process of allergic rhinitis . IL-13 and tlgE might be useful in the evaluation of occurrence ,development and change in allergic rhinitis .Inaddition, IL-13 may be a mew target for the treatment of allergic rhinitis...
