Objective:To investigate the expression of VEGF,Ki-67,MVD in non-invasive/invasive pituitary adenomas and in different pathological types of pituitary adenomas, and to analyze the clinical significance of these factors’expression.Methods:A total of64cases of pituitary adenomas tissue were classified and used to detect the expression of VEGF,Ki-67,MVD by immunohistochemical technique(IHCT) streptavidin-perosidase(SP) method,including31cases of invasive pituitary adenomas,33cases of non-invasive pituitary adenomas;10cases of non-functional pituitary adenomas,8cases of multi-functional pituitary adenomas,10cases of PRL pituitary adenomas,10cases of GH pituitary adenomas,6cases of TSH pituitary adenomas,10cases of ACTH pituitary adenomas,10cases of GnH pituitary adenomas.All these cases above were not accepted with radiotherapy or chemotherapy before operation. Analyze the results with the Image Pro Plus software and SPSS17.0software.Results:1. The expression level of VEGF,Ki-67,MVD was32.64±15.42,42.11±17.33,20.64±10.56in non-invasive pituitary adenomas and40.56±12.58,56.25±17.29,28.13±11.35in invasive pituitary adenomas respectively.The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05)2. The expression level of VEGF,MVD was related to different endocrine types of pituitary adenomas.The expression level of VEGF was high in non-functional pituitary adenomas (45.34±12.77) and low in PRL pituitary adenomas (27.23±11.56),the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) comparing to other endocrine types of pituitary adenomas.The expression level of MVD was high in TSH pituitary adenomas (29.57±9.63) and low in PRL pituitary adenomas (17.78±10.60),the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05) comparing to other endocrine types of pituitary adenomas.The expression level of Ki-67had nothing to do with endocrine types of pituitary adenomas. 3. The expression level of VEGF,Ki-67,MVD in pituitary adenomas had significant positive correlation with each other (r>0, P<0.001)Conclusions:The expression level of VEGF,Ki-67,MVD in invasive pituitary adenomas was higher than it in non-invasive pituitary adenomas significantly; the expression level of VEGF,MVD was related to different endocrine types of pituitary adenomas while the expression level of Ki-67had nothing to do with endocrine types of pituitary adenomas;the expression level of VEGF,Ki-67,MVD in pituitary adenomas had significant positive correlation with each other.The results prompted that these three factors could be used to assess the invasiveness and prognosis of pituitary adenomas,so we could formulate the treatment programs more rationally and maybe we could discover a brand new way to treat pituitary adenomas through these factors.
