Objectives The purpose of this study was to evaluate the expression of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) and metris metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in cervical cancer and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and their relationship with stage, pathologic grade,histological classification and lymphnode metastasis. Furthermore to investigate the correlation of COX-2 and MMP-9.Methods and Materials 62 patients with invasive cervicalcancer(ICC)who received radical surgery or subradical surgery and 40 patients with CIN who received cervical biopsy or cervical conization between January 1998 and January 2005 in the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Shandong provincial Qian Fuo Shan Hospital were reviewed for study. The patient average age was 47.5 years (ranged from 31 to 68).Squamous cell cancer was 52 and adenacarcinoma was 10. G1 was 29 and G2~G3 was 33.Stage was as followed according to FIGO 2000: I A 9, I B 33, II A 16,and II B 4.
