The Expression And Significance Of Tetranectin And Survivin In Breast Cancer

Backgrouds and aims: Breast cancer is one of the most common malignant neoplasms in the world of woman. Tetranectin (TN) is a member of the C-type lectin family and binds to the fourth kringle domain of plasminogen, which is thought to play a prominent role in the regulation of proteolytic processes.Because of this it is also thought to be a tumorous protein. Survivin is a member of the inhibitor of apoptosis(IAP) family,it can block the cell apoptosis by inhibiting the function of the enzyme Caspase-3 and Caspase-7. Present studies indicate that surviving is overexpressed in malignant tumor .This current study was designed to investigate the effects of TN and survivin in umorigenesis and progression of breast carcinoma .And the relationship of the expressions of TN and survivin in breast cancer.Methods: The expression of TN and survivin in the tissue of normal mammary(20 cases), hyperplasia mammary(30cases), alypical hyperplasia mammary(10cases) and breast carcinoma (90cases) were evaluated by SP immunohistochemistry.The relationship between TN expression and the pathologically biological feaures of breast cancer was assessed.And also the relationship of the expressions of TN and survivin in breast cancer was assessed.Results: 1. TN was highly expressed in connective tissue fibres surrounding normal breast epithelium(95% 83.3% 50%), but not in normal epithelial cells(10% 40%). High expression of TN in tumour cells was found in 64 (71.1%) of the tumour samples.2.TN was more expressed in the infitrating ductal carcinoma(79.2%) than in the infiltrating lobular carcinoma(45.5%) and the special infiltrative breast carcinoma (28.6%). (p<0.05). the expression of TN has no obvious correlation whith the patient age ,the size of tumor and the expression of ER and PR. But it is higher inâ…¢degree(80.4%) than that inâ… ,â…¡degree(61.3%).(p<0.05)3.The positive rates of survivin were 0%,6.6%,40.0% and 67.8% in the tissue of normal mammary ,hyperplasia mammary, alypical hyperplasia mammary and breast carcinoma. The positive rates in the last two groups were higher than those in the former two groups (P<0.005).4. survivin was more expressed in the infiltralive nonspecial breast carcinoma (75.0% 63.6%) than in the special infiltrative breast carcinoma(0%)(P<0.05). the expression of survivin has no obvious correlation whith the patient age ,the size of tumor and the expression of ER and PR. But it is higher inâ…¢degree(78.3%) than that inâ… ,â…¡degree(56.8%). (p<0.05)5. There was no relationship of the expressions of TN and survivin in breast cancer. Expression of TN was not correlated with those of survivin(p>0.05).
