Design And Application Of Digital Medical Record MIS

Objective To design a set of digital medical record MIS and apply it to practice in order to enhance the function of service and utilization of medical record and promote efficiency of medical record management.Methods On the basis of the theory of the medical record management science, management information system science, etc, the domestic situation of digital medical record management was comprehended by using the methods of the literature review and site investigation. The advantages and defects of current medical record MIS were analyzed and the demands to digital medical record MIS were advanced by using the method of individual interview. The digital medical record MIS was designed and applied by the combination of structured analysis &developing method and archetype method.Results (1) The current networked medical record MIS has been carefully analyzed, and some advantages were admitted such as networked and shared data acquisition of the front sheet of the medical record, the integrity of the medical record and medical statistics. At the same time, the shortages in medical record details sharing through network , user-defined medical statistics report format, arbitrary assembled retrieval according to front sheet of the medical record were analyzed. Based on above works, the demands to digital medical record MIS were advanced. (2) Structured Analysis &Developing Method was adopted in total layout design, analysis and module development. The structure of software was Client/Server mode. The foreground-developing tool was Power Builder and the database management system was Microsoft SQL Server 2000. (3) The digital medical record MIS is divided into ten modules including front sheet of medical record subsystem, hospitalized medical dynamic subsystem, medical record circulation subsystem, medical statistic subsystem, digital medical record making subsystem, digital medical record retrieval and reading subsystem, medical research subsystem, case follow-up subsystem, medical record quality control subsystem and rights control subsystem. (4) The application of the software indicates the MIS has the advantages of high data sharing ability, good practicality and high stability , flexibility of medical statistics, arbitrary assembled retrieval of medical record information, sharing and reading complete text of medical record through network and etc. It has achieved functional objective requirements and it is innovative in medical record digitalization mode, user-defined retrieval and medical statistics, medical research item excerpt and export and etc.Conclusions Before the achievement of electronic medical record, the digital medical record management is a practical and effective style in resolving the problems of medical record preservation and utilization, information security, data sharing, etc. As an important part of digital hospital system engineering, digital medical record MIS will enhance the function of service and utilization of medical record and promote the holistic efficiency of medical record management.
