The Protein Expression Levels And Clinical Significance Of Serum VEGF-C And C-erbB-2 In Human Breast Carcinoma

Objective: To investigate the protein expression levels and clinical significance of serum VEGF-C and C-erbB-2 in human breast carcinomaMethods: VEGF-C was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay ( ELISA)and the tissue C-erbB-2 was detected immunohistochemical method in 44breast cancer patients , 44breast benign diseases.Results: 1.The serum VEGF - C level in breast cancer group 227.95±18.21 pg/ml was significantly higher than that in benign disease group 176.97±11.23 pg/ml ( P < 0. 01) .2. About serum VEGF-C level between pre-operation 277.95±18.21pg/ml and at a month of post-operation 212.45±12.86pg/ml, there were statistically significant differences (P<0.05). 3.The serum VEGF-C level each was 221.27±30.47,275.22±22.25,398.16±40.65 pg/ml in stageⅠtoⅢandⅣ, the stageⅢandⅣwas higher in comparison with stageⅡandⅠ(P<0.05),in stageⅡit was higher than in stageⅠ(P<0.05). 4.But without statistical difference between the VEGF - C level of lymph node positive group 308.79±28.20 pg/ml and that of lymph node negative group 252.25±22.94 pg/ml ( P > 0. 05). 5. 50.00% patients with positive expression of C - erbB - 2 in breast cancer tissues, in comparison to the benign lesion tissues (11.00%) , there were statistically significant differences( P < 0. 01).6. The expression of C - erbB - 2 had correlation with the lymph node metastasis, the lymph node positive group(70.00%) were significantly higher than that lymph node negative group(33.33%).7. The serum VEGF-C increased with the C-erbB-2 positive intensity, that were positively correlated.Conclusion:1. The serum VEGF- C levels in blood serum of breast carcinoma can be conducted as an assisted marker in making differential diagnosis such as malignant and benign breast diseases,pridicting the effectiveness of operation therapy possible and prognosis.2. C - erbB - 2 can be conducted as an assisted marker to make differential diagnosis of breast tumor and to predict the lymph node metastasis.3. The serum VEGF-C was correlated wih the expression of C-erbB-2, them may play an important role cooperatively in the occurrence and malignant transformation of breast cancer.
