OBJECTIVE:To study the effects of certain micronutrients on reproduction in the infertility model rats induced by adenineMETHODS:1.Establishing the infertility model:Thirty SD three-month-old male rats were induced infertility model by given adenine through intra-gastric administration.Dosage was 300mg/kg and lasted for four weeks.Another ten SD male rats were intra-gastric administrated equal dosage of 0.9%sodium chloride once per day.All of them had common feedstuff and drank water freely.Weighed the rats every week.Made sure that the model had been successful according to the exterior syndrome, weight,LH,FSH and T level in the serum.2.Grouping:The test included five groups with ten rats each:normal control, model control, micronutrient, androgen and micronutrient prevent group.Thirty model rats were randomly divided into three groups as follows:model control, micronutrients and androgen.Twenty normal rats were randomly divided into micronutrient prevent group and normal control group.3.Experiments:Model control group and normal control group were intra-gastric administrated with equal dosage of 0.9%sodium chloride, micronutrient group were treated with micronutrients preparation by lavage, androgen group were treated with testosterone, micronutrient prevent group were given micronutrients preparation first and given adenine after 40 minutes. The mice in the five groups had common feedstuff and drank water freely.Weighed them once a week. The following indices were observed four weeks later:the exterior syndrome, the content of LH,FSH and T level in the serum, weight index of the testis and epididymis, spermatozoal concentration, score of spermatozoal activity and percentage of abnormal spermatozoa and tissue changes of the testis.RESULTS:1.The effects of micronutrients on production of the infertility rats induced by adenine:the exterior syndrome became normal, their relative gravity of testis and epididymis increased.Compared to model group, micronutrient group had higher spermatozoal concentration and score of spermatozoal activity and lower percentage of abnormal spermatozoa. The histology of the sexual organs also had morphology changes. The testis tissues had been significantly repaired.2.The effects of micronutrients to the serum hormone:the content of LH,FSH and T level in the serum of micronutrient group were changed significantly more than those of the model control group.FSH decreased and LH,T increased.3.The effects of micronutrients to prevent reproduction:micronutrient prevent group and normal control group had no significant difference in the quantity of sperm, the serum hormone and histology testis.CONCLUSIONS:1.Vitamin A,vitamin E,vitamin C,zinc and selenium displayed positive effects on increasing the quantity of sperm and androgen level of the infertility male rats induced by adenine.2.Vitamin A,vitamin E,vitamin C,zinc and selenium could effectively prevent male rats' sexual system from the injury caused by adenine.
