Objective: To evaluate asthma control status in asthmatic outpatients of Shi Jiazhuang city and evaluate the psychologic status. Then the risk factors that influence the control status were analyzed. It will be very useful to make the protocol for treating and managing the asthmatic patients. Methods: A questionnaire based investigation were performed from Aug 2007 to Feb 2008 in asthmatic outpatients of 5 hospital of Shi Jiazhuang city. The asthmatic outpatients must older than fourteen years old, live in Shi Jiazhuang city more than one year and be diagnosed asthma more than one month. The Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS) and the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS) need the patient to complete by themselves. The data was recorded by EXCEL and analyzed by SPSS13.0. The quantitative data was described by mean, standard deviation, maximum and minimum. The qualitative data was described by frequency distribution, constituent ratio and percentage. Multiple backward regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors. Results: According to the ACT, there were 111(60.33%) patients uncontrolled and 73(39.67%)patients well controlled. 69(37.5%) patients had been hospitalized and 62(33.7%) patients had visited emergency department because of asthma exacerbation in the previous year. 70(38.04%) patients had undergone lung function test in the previous year. Only 50(27.17%) patients had the special doctors and 88(47.13%) patients received daily control therapy with inhaled corticosteroids regularly. Multiple backward regression analysis show, the control status was significantly correlated with smoking(OR 5.202), allergy(OR 2.559), economics burden(OR 1.626), couldn't receive daily control therapy with inhaled corticosteroids (OR 3.354), SAS(OR 12.599) and SDS(OR 5.270).P≤0.05.Conclusion: Multiple backward regression analysis show, the control status was significantly correlated with smoking(OR 5.202), allergy(OR 2.559), economics burden(OR 1.626), couldn't receive daily control therapy with inhaled corticosteroids (OR 3.354), SAS(OR 12.599) and SDS(OR 5.270).P≤0.05. According to the ACT, there were only 39.67% of patients well controlled. We need to do more work about the implementation of patient's education program and asthma guideline.
