Objective: It was studied the influence of phenolic alkaloids from Menispermum dauricum (PAMD) on hemorrheology and the protein expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1)in rats and explored the mechanism of the action for cerebral ischemic. Methods: In order to test the neuroprotective effect of PAMD treating cerebral ischemia, the rats with incomplete cerebral ischemia were induced with fishing line in the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). It was detected the effect of PAMD on protein expression of VCAM-1 with immunohistochemical process at 24h, 48h, 72h after cerebral ischemia. The effect of blood viscosity was detected by blood flow dynamic analysis apparatus at 24h, 48h, 72h after cerebral ischemia. It was observed the effect of PAMD on the change of ethology and pathomorphology due to nerve injury of rats with MCAO before and after treatment. Results: PAMD can make obviously pathomorphology of cerebral ischemia better, improve the change of ethology, inhibit protein expression of VCAM-1. PAMD can increase the cerebral blood flow and reduce the blood viscosity. Conclusion: PAMD processes protective effect on cerebral ischemia. The mechanism of the action is relate to increase the cerebral blood flow and decrease the blood viscosity.
