Controllded Study On Scalp Acupuncture And Body Acupuncture On The Gait Of Stroke Patients

Objective:To observe and compare the effects of scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture on the gait of stroke patients,what afford the clinic reference for the regular treatment of stroke patients.Methods:Fifty-four patients with stable stroke(Functional Ambulation Category≥1) within 6 months after the onset were enrolled in the study.They were randomly allocated into two groups,scalp acupuncture treatment group and body acupuncture treatment group.There were 27 patients in each group.Patients in the scalp acupuncture treatment group were treated with the scalp acupuncture combined with routine function training,while those in the body acupuncture treatment group received the body acupuncture combined with function training.They were treated six days a week for 4 weeks.All patients were assessed before and after training period.The evaluating items include:Walking rate(WR),Walking speed(WS) and Functional Ambulation Category(FAC) scale for the walking ability,Fugl-Meyer Assessment scale(FMA) for the motor function of lower limbs,Berg Balance Scale(BBS) for the balance ability and Modified Barthel Index(MBI) for ability of daily life.Results:(1)The Walking rate,Walking speed,FMA,BBS,MBI scores were 43.78±10.74,22.44±6.11,20.30±2.03,33.93±7.03,29.29±4.42,respectively before the treatment and they were 53.41±9.07,27.12±5.33,23.41±3.04,39.15±6.01,56.74±11.66,respectively after the treatment in the scalp acupuncture group.There was significant difference between them(P＜0.01). (2)The Walking rate,Walking speed,FMA,BBS,MBI scores were 43.52±10.09,23.27±6.53,20.85±2.38,35.52±5.64,28.93±3.96,respectively before the treatment and they were 53.00±9.89,27.60±6.24,23.59±2.75,40.00±4.65,56.22±11.65,respectively after the treatment in the body acupuncture group.There was also significant difference between them(P＜0.01).(3)There was not significant difference(P＞0.05) between the effects improving the walking functions,motor function,balance function,ability of daily life by applying scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture in the treatment of stoke.Conclusion:(1)The method of scalp acupuncture combined with function training and the body acupuncture combined with function training can improve the gait of stroke patients.(2)There was no difference between the effects improving the walking functions,motor function,balance function,ability of daily life by applying scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture in the treatment of stoke...
