Microwave-assisted extraction is a new extraction method by coupling the microwave heating with chemical extraction technique. More recently, microwave-assisted extraction(MAE) has been investigated because it (a) decreases the extraction time (b) improves the extraction efficiency and selectivity (c) reduces the amount of energy and solvent discharged into the surroundings. The main results are as follows:1. Microwave-assisted extraction of procyanidins from grape seedsSeveral factors, such as the MAE temperature, microwave power, concentration of extraction solvent, MAE time and the solid/liquid ratios, were investigated and the optimum conditions were obtained from the experiments. The optimum conditions of MAE is 3 minutes extracting in 80% ethanol water solvent at 80℃under the microwave power 600W, the solid/liquid ratios of 1:8(g/mL). The extraction percentage of procyanidins was 22.73% with the described conditions. Compared with the hot reflux extraction, the MAE was more timesaving and effective.2. Microwave-assisted extraction of TanshinoneⅡA from Salvia miltiorrhiza bungeAn accurate HPLC analysis method has been developed for the separation and determination of TanshinoneⅡA in the extraction solution. Various experimental conditions, such as solvent constituents, MAE time, extraction temperature, microwave power, liquid/solid ratios and extracted times were investigated to affect the percentage extraction of TanshinoneⅡA. The extraction percentage of tanshinoneⅡA was obtained by 0.68%, under 4 minutes extracting in 80% ethanol water solvent at 70℃,and the solid/liquid ratios of 1:9 (g/mL). Compared with the hot reflux extraction, the MAE was more timesaving and effective.The technics of separation and purification of tanshinoneⅡA are also researched. It has been reported that there are several kinds of homemade macroporous resins of the separation and purification of TanshinoneⅡA. After comparing various macroporous resins, the D3520 macroporous resin was selected to separat TranshinoneⅡA by chromatogram, and good experimental results are obtained.In this research, a process of separation and purification of TanshinoneⅡA was established, which includes the following operations: Microwave-assisted extraction of TanshinoneⅡA, condensation, abstraction, more condensation, macroporous resins chromatography, condensation and drying under reduced pressure. The purity of TanshinoneⅡA crystal is 53%.
