Objective: According to Chinese medicine theory, Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is due to deficiency of spleen and kidney, as well as obstruction of turbid and stagnation of blood. So Jian Pi Bu Shen, Xie Zhuo Qu Yu is used as the treatment principle and the patent Qu Du (detoxification) Granule is given in treating CRF in this research. An observation and the mechanism will be given in this paper about the intervention effect. Methods: 120 CRF cases are chosen (non-uremic phase) in this paper whose differentiation syndrome belongs to deficiency of spleen and kidney, obstruction of turbid and stagnation of blood. These cases are randomly divided into experimental group and control group, 60 each. Besides general treatment, Qu Du Granule is given to experimental group (1 package once, 3 times daily) and Niao Du Qing Granule for control group with a treatment of at least 12 months. Patients in both groups are observed with blood pressure, 24-hours urinary protein, hemoglobin and serum creatinine changes, observe their renal dysfunction development trends by analyzing the countdown through the serum creatinine (1/Scr) and time of regression coefficient and linear regression and the direction of slope b values and analyze the influences hypertension, Proteinuria, and hemoglobin on the value of b. Results: After the treatment, the b value of control group is -0.00301±0.00175, and -0.00199±0.00152 of experimental group, which is apparently smaller than control group (P<0.01). It shows Qu Du Granule has a better therapeutic effect than Niao Du Qing Granule in relieving CRF. According to the observation of the influences which hypertension, proteinuria, and hemoglobin are on CRF, it is find that these factors accelerates deterioration of CRF and herbal medicine interferes the influence these factors are on CRF and Qu Du Granule is better than Niao Du Qing Granule in relieving CRF (p<0.05).Conclusion: The appliance of Jian Pi Bu Shen, Xie Zhuo Qu Yu treatment principle (Qu Du Granule) relieves CRF by relieving hypertension, proteinuria, anemia, etc.
