The Clinical Study Of Applying Tonic Lifting-Thrusting Needling In The Treatment Of Chronic Gastritis With Deficient Syndrome

Objective:Using electro-acupuncture as the control group,the study observes the curative effect of applying tonic lifting-thrusting needling in the treatment of chronic gastritis of the deficient syndrome.Method:The diagnostic standards used are as quoted by "The National Symposium of Chronic Gastritis" held in 2000,and "The Diagnostic and Treatment Standards of Gastroscopy in Chronic Gastritis" cited in 2003.A total of sixty chronic gastritis patients from LongXing and Mingshi Chinese Medical Clinics in Taiwan were randomly divided into treatment and control groups;each having 30 patients.The acupoints chosen for the treatment in both groups were zhongwan,zusanli,neiguan,and gongsun.The treatment group applied tonic lifting-thrusting needling,while the control group used electro-acupuncture.The patients were treated 3 times per week;10 treatments per course.After 2 courses of treatment,the results including symptoms and gastroscopy were recorded as per "The Guide to Clinical Study of Chinese Medicine and New Drugs" and "The Standards of Diagnostic,Syndrome Differentiation and Clinical Effect in Chronic Gastritis by Combined TCM and Mainstream Medicine"Results:1.The treatment group had an effective rate of 33.3%and a total effective rate of 76.6%;those of the control group were 30.0%and 80.0%,respectively. After statistical analysis,the difference in both effective rate and total effective rate were not significant(p＞0.05).2.After treatment,the symptoms in both groups improved,with the treatment group having a more significant improvement than the control group(p＜0.01 and p＜0.05,respectively).The patients in the treatment group felt less bloated than the control group(p＜0.05).Those in the control group had a better appetite than those in the treatment group(p＜0.05).Other observed symptoms had no significant difference between the groups (p＞0.05).3.The gastroscopy results after treatment in both groups were better than before treatment(p＜0.01).However,the improvement seen between the groups had no significant difference(p＞0.05).Conclusions:1.Both methods of treatment,lifting-thrusting needling and electro-acupuncture,had significantly curative effects.The total effective rates between the groups were not significantly different.2.The lifting-thrusting needling treatment can immensely decrease the patients' bloatness;while treatment with electro-acupuncture can increase appetite.3.Improvements in the gastroscopy tests were seen after both methods of treatment,lifting-thrusting needling and electro-acupuncture.The difference between the groups was not very significant.
