Objective: To observe the efficacy of Kun-dan on rat model of metabolic syndrome and discuss its mechanism.Methods: 94 Wistar rats were assigned two groups,10 rats in blank control group were given distilled water,84 rats in model group were given high-fat,high-sugar, high-salt emulsion 1ml/100g.d. To weight one time per week.After six weeks,to detect artery systolic pressure of rat tail with non-invasive measurement, and detect the effect on blood glucose,TG,TC,LDL-C and HDL-C.Serum insulin was detected with radioimmunoassay. The model rats were randomly divided into 7 groups,each group was given high-fat, high-sugar, high-salt emulsions 1ml/100g.d morning, afternoon Kun-dan large, medium and low dose group were given Kun-dan 7.5g/kg.d,3.75g/kg.d and 1.87g/kg.d (separately 15 times, 7.5 times and 3.75 times than these for human-being); Xiaokewan group was given Xiaokewan 0.38g/kg.d(7.5 times than that for human-being);Xuezhikang group was given Xuezhikang 0.15g/kg.d (7.5 times than that for human-being);Niuhuangjiangyawan group was given Niuhuangjiangyawan 0.4g/kg.d(7.5 times than that for human-being); blank control group was given distilled water. To weight one time per week. After six weeks of intervation,to detect artery systolic pressure of rat tail with non-invasive measurement, and detect the effect on blood glucose,TC,TG,LDL-C and HDL-C. Serum insulin, TNF-αand leptin levels were detected with radioimmunoassay,FFA was detected with colorimetric method.Results: (1)Kun-dan large and medium dose could reduce body weight of rats with metabolic syndrome(P<0.01); (2)Kun-dan large and medium dose could reduce the blood glucose and the serum inslin levels of rats with metabolic syndrome(P<0.05,P<0.01), and improve insulin sensitivity(P<0.01);(3)Kun-dan large and medium dose could significantly reduce TC, TG, LDL-C levels(P<0.01)and increased HDL-C level of rats with metabolic syndrome(P<0.01),Kun-dan large dose group is superior to Xuezhikang group; (4)Kun-dan large dose could reduce systolic blood pressure of rats with metabolic syndrome(P<0.05); (5)Kun-dan large and medium dose could reduce serum FFA levels(P<0.01,P<0.05), Kun-dan large dose is superior to other groups; (6)Kun-dan large and medium dose could reduce the serum TNF-αlevels(P<0.01,P<0.05), Kun-dan large dose is superior to other groups; (7)Kun-dan large and medium dose could reduce the serum leptin levels(P<0.01, P<0.05), Kun-dan large dose is superior to other groups; (8)Kun-dan large dose is superior to medium and low dose.Conclusion:Kun-dan could prevent and treat the occurrence and development of MS effectively.
