To ascertain the morphological characteristics, and its immune mode and function of the mucosal associated lymphoid tissue in large intestine of Chinese western-specific Bactrian camels, 12 normal Bactrian camels and 6 natural infected Bactrian camels from Minqin county of Gansu province were studied using the technologies of anatomy, statistics measurement and histology. The results showed that the Peyer's patches (PPs) of mucous immune in large intestine have 3 basic shapes as half-moon, cup-shaped and capsular. And quantity of lymphatic nodules in PPs of half-moon shape less than 2 the other shapes. PPs are only located ileocecal junction and front 1/3 of colon, no situated in cecum, behind of colon and rectum. In statistics, among camels, they are different from each other in the quantity of PPs, and 3 shapes of PPs have different portion in camels. The young camels below 6 years old have most quantity PPs of half-moon shape, adult between 6 to 20 years old have more PPs of cup-shape and capsular. PPs mainly located mucous substratum and below epithelial lining. Both the lymphatic nodules in PPs and diffuse lymphoid tissue in intestinal lamina propria of cecum of young camels are obviously less than adults which above 6 years old. In addition, plasma cells of lamina propria and mast cells of mucous substratum are seldom. Reticular fibers are seen clearly solitary lymphoid nodule and PPs.The mucosa of parasitic positions thickened obviously to be gyrus like and was covered with lots of mucus, and slight hemorrhage was observed. The mucosa thickened at different level were proliferation, including the epitheliums of mucosa, the intestinal glands and goblest cells and diffuse lymphoid tissue, and also a great quantity of eosinophils infiltrating in the lamina propria, lamina muscosa and tunica sub mucosa. In addition, lymphatic nodule, PPs of tunica sub-mucosa and the mast cells arround blood vessels also proliferated evidently. All the results showed that the distribution and morphological characteristics of the mucosal associated lymphoid tissue in large intestine mucosa were species-specific, and ileocecal junction was an important mucosal immunity location and immune effects location. The mucosal immune strength increased gradually with ageing. The mucosa of parasitic positions thickened gyrus like in infected group caused by hyperblastosis of mucosa immunity tissue, and the old Bactrian camels showed stronger resistance of mucosa immunity than the young ones.
