Learning foreign languages is closely related with English learning motivation, and the incentive plays an important role between them. Incentive Teaching Approach is a course of stimulating students'learning motivation by means of certain ways and methods to raise students'achievements.This thesis is based on the incentive theories,and analyzes the causes of lacking motivation of five-year higher vocational education students, thus proposed the corresponding method.As a form of higher vocational education,five-year higher vocational education has its own characteristics and advantages when it is compared with other higher vocational education types.In recent years, the size of the five-year higher vocational education school is larger and larger. Many companies have strong demand for this kind of students.But as vocational schools'expansion, the students' quality, qualified teachers,teaching facilities and other social factors, make the students lack of learning motivation. Everyone needs motivation,the students are not the learning machine, they also need stimulation. But the students of five-year higher vocational school have their own characters,so the incentive strategies in English teaching are differ from others.The paper consists of five parts.Chapter One introduce the research background, significance, thoughts and methods,the current situations home and abroad.Chapter Two is application of the concept of incentive strategies on five-year higher vocational English teaching, it analyses the internal and external reasons in English study, and follow which principles in incentive teaching.The third part is an empirical study in which the writer analyses five-year higher vocational school students'internal and external learning motivation, their attitudes, learning force and the current situation of Incentive Teaching Approach and its influence on students by using questionnaire survey and interview. The results show that most students have instrumental motivation, and they have no interest in learning English and lack good learning methods.But most students hope the teacher can use Incentive Teaching Approach to stimulate students'English learning interest. Chapter Four is about some questions of Incentive Teaching Approach in English teaching.The last chapter is the summary of this paper, and points out the deficiencies.The thesis summarizes and analyses the problems of five-year higher vocational and technical school English teaching applying Incentive Teaching Approach on the basis of the existing documents.With the help of an empirical study, the writer combines theory with practice and proposes some suggestions of applying Incentive Teaching Approach effectively to five-year higher vocational school English teaching with the expectation of providing references for other teachers in using Incentive Teaching Approach.
