The Dictionary Property And The Influence Of "Shuowenjiezi"

"Shuowenjiezi" was created by Xushen in Han Dynasty and it was the first real sense of dictionary in our country. "Shuowenjiezi" has many aspects of the groundbreaking. When Xushen created "Shuowenjiezi", he setted 540 radicals to guide Chinese characters, established the arrangement principle of "Juxingxilian"(contacted together according to the font) and adopted the interpretation methods that combined the form,sound and meaning tongther. This dictionary This dictionary accept Chinese characters widely at the same tine. All of these had great influence to the compiling of dictionaries in later ages. As our dictionary precedent, it has established the basic style of the dictionary of our country and the later dictionary almost all based on and developed from it.This paper mainly on the basis of previous studies, further from the radicals, the organizing principles, the form of explaining characters means and the collection of characters to explain the dictionary properties of "Shuowenjiezi" and its deficiencies, and also discuss its influence to modern dictionary compilation and its new inspiration on the dissemination of modern culture and scientific research.
