Study On Protection And Sustainable Development Of Historic Cultural Towns And Villages

Historic cultural towns and villages are not only an important part of Chinese cultural heritage in history but also a big valuable wealth materially and spiritually for the whole human beings. However, with the rapid development of economy and rural urbanization, these historic heritages and their surroundings are faced with a serious crisis and destroyed in a certain extent. Based on historical achievement and varied realistic investigation, this paper introduces the distribution characteristics, contents and status of protection work of Chinese historical village, and analyzes and discusses the water towns in Jangnan region with varies sociological and natural science research methods, analyzes the existing problems in the protection work and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions to this point, trying to search the rule of the development of the towns.This article is composed by seven main chapters as follows:Chapter One introduces the research background, content, methods and research frame of this article. Chapter Two gives the gerneral situation of historic cultural towns and villages in China, including the distribution,characteristics, value, and the protection targets, etc.The part is to make preparations for the next study.Chapter Three takes the six famous towns in the South of Yangtze River as examples,introduces their distribution characteristics and common characters. In addition, the author also evaluates their protection situations with AHP method. Chapter Four addresses the unique features and current situation of intangible cultural heritages in age-old towns/villages. Besides, the auther gives some sound suggestions to keep sustainable development of these intangible cultural heritages. Chapter Five defines bundle-type world heritage and makes a summary of China's current bundle-type world heritage.Then based on the background of the bundle-type world heritage of the six towns in the South of Yangtze River, the author anlylize the feasibility of bundle-type world heritage and how to integrate them.Chapter Six based on the objective and accurate analysis on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats method(SWOT) of the old town of Tongli, and put forward the opinion that the town must utilize the advantages of resources to the full make an appropriate market orientation, develop tourism product reasonably, etc. Chapter Seven puts forward the current problems in protection and management of the old town Wuzhen on the theory of sustainable development, and gives the feasible comments and suggestion for it.
