In ancient Mongolian documents, there are many instances of Mongolian transcripts for Chinese loanwords. To make a systematic research of the corresponding relationship between the Mongolian transcripts and the Chinese characters, the study will prove to be of great value to the present phonetics study of the Mongolian transcripts for the Chinese loanwords.Some scholars have mentioned and studied this issue in their papers or works. However, no systematic research has been found among the previous study. In order to elaborate the phonetic features of the Chinese loan words in Mongolian literature, a comparative study through collecting, inducting has been conducted on the examples of the Mongolian transcripts for the Chinese loanwords in the Mongolian documents.The study shows that the feature and manner of the transcription in different documents are consistent on the whole. When putting the Chinese loan words into Phags-pa letter, much effort were paid to show the phonetic features of the Chinese character. Thus the have clearly embodied the authentic Chinese sounds at that time. Meanwhile, the Mongolian transcriptions also have showed some typical issues which relate to the ancient Phags-pa letters and the pronunciation of the Chinese characters. Through analyzing and studying the issue in this paper, the Mongolian transcripts system for the Chinese loanwords proved to be more consummate and systematic.
