The diplomatic relationship between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China was established on January 20,1992. The dynamic development of relations between the two countries is due to the common principles of domestic and foreign policy, the coincidence of views on major issues of international relations. The Joint Declaration between Belarus and China adopted in December 2005 marked that development of bilateral relations had come to a new stage of comprehensive development and strategic cooperation, and stimulated further development of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. In such circumstances, business correspondence, contracts and other kinds of commercial documents need a prompt and equivalent translation. Therefore, the translation of special texts in the sphere of economic and trade relationship is of extreme importance. This paper mainly research translation problems that occur in the most common type of contracts:international commercial contract or foreign trade contract. The main purpose of this paper is to determine the most appropriate strategy and methods of translation of commercial contracts. The translation strategy described in this paper is mainly based on the ideas of the German linguist H. Krings and Russian linguist I.S. Alekseeva. The strategy consists of three stages:pre-translation analysis, translation and post-translation analysis. The methods of translation depend on translation text type and the main criterions of text types'classification are types of information that occur in a text.Although commercial contract is a kind of a commercial document, it also has peculiarities of juridical texts. Due to the authoritative nature of juridical texts, which demands high standards of translation, commercial contracts should by translated using semantic method of translation, which means that translated text should be true to the original. At the same time, as Russian and Chinese collocations and many juridical conceptions and terms differ, some words and expressions can be translated using communicative method of translation.
