Japanese students and Korean students are the most important part of international students who are learning Chinese language and culture in china. In some international divisions of high schools, they are also the main body of the teaching. Because all of them are from Asia, they have relatively similar cultural backgrounds, Japanese and Korean students usually are placed in the same class. However, Japanese and Korean students showed different characteristics and learning errors in learning Chinese due to many factors, focusing on the learning of phonetics of Chinese language, this paper studies the causes of the differences between Japanese and Korean students in learning phonetics, and explores practical significance of this comparative study to the Chinese language teaching to foreigners in high school.This paper includes three chapters. The first chapter is "the objective factors which causes the differences on the learning of Chinese phonetics between Japanese and Korean students ". This chapter studies the differences in phonetics system and pronunciation habits between their mother tongue and Chinese language and the impacts of which on the learning of Chinese phonetics. This chapter also analyzes the Chinese character in their mother language and its impact on the learning of Chinese phonetics. The second chapter is "the subjunctive factors which causes the differences on the learning of Chinese phonetics between Japanese and Korean students ". This chapter studies the differences of studying consciousness, personality characteristics and learning methods between the Japanese and Korean students as well as the impact on the learning of Chinese phonetics. The third chapter is the practical significance of this comparative study of the differences on the learning of Chinese phonetics between Japanese and Korean students. This chapter discusses practical significance of this study to the teaching of Chinese to foreigners in the high school level.
