Accompanying with the development of reform and opening-up to the outside world, China has increased its exchanges with foreign countries in many fields such as culture, economy and politics. Foreign movies and TV products, particularly those in English language, have also flooded into China through various ways, so the imported movies with a great number of which are from English speaking countries occupy a very important position and become an essential part of our daily lives. Watching foreign movies is an efficient way of enriching people's life, broadening our horizon and promoting the understanding and communication between different cultures, also is a good way of learning English.Researches on subtitle translation have a long history and been carried out more extensively and intensively in the West, thus conventions have been established in terms of translation strategies and quality control. In comparison, researches in this field have a relatively short history in China. At present, subtitle translation products sprang up at the market, but their qualities are at quite different levels due to the lack of theoretical instructions. The translation of subtitles belongs to literary translation, but has its own distinctive characters, compared with the other forms of literary translation.This paper attempts to analyze the translation of film subtitle from the perspective of Skopostheorie Approach, consisting of five chapters:Chapter One is literature review and mainly analyzes the present related study both at home and abroad. Chapter Two introduces the theoretical basis. Chapter Three focuses on some features and the factors that influence the quality of subtitle translation. Chapter Four is the body of this thesis, which analyzes this movie's title translation, some characters'names translation and some translation strategies adopted in the subtitle translation of Kung Fu Panda. Chapter Five is the conclusion part, which sums up this thesis, points out the limitations of the study and gives some suggestions for the future study.
