The Development And Influence Of The Science Of Logic In Modern China

The Qin MingBian Logic of China is one of the three sources of logic in the world ,which developed at the same time with Ancient Greek Logic and Indian YinMing. During the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, the study of MingBian was flourishing and famous logicians came forth in large numbers hi China. The logicians were original .especially MoZi and his followers who wrote Mohist Canon and advanced Mohist Dialectics logic. By doing so, they pushed Chinese classical logic to its prime. However, since the Qin and Han Dynasties, the study of MingBian has declined gradually because of the influence of " the sole respect for the Confucianism" in the succeeding dynasties as well as its own defects. It almost came to its end in the Wei and Jin Dynasties. It was not until the modern times that the science of logic in China greeted its revival after a long period of cold reception. The development of the science of logic hi modern China is an important milestone in the history of Chinese logic. It not only lays a solid foundation for the development of the science of logic hi present day China, serving as a link between past and future, but also brings about changes hi various fields of Chinese society, playing a certain role hi the transition from traditional to modern of Chinese culture, even Chinese society. This paper gives a comprehensive review about the development of the science of logic hi modem China and has a brief discussion about its general developing features and its influence upon the then even the future Chinese society. In the present new century and during the course of globalization of knowledge economics, this research has an important referential meaning both to the development of the science of logic hi China in the new historical situation and to the originality of thinking, even to the overall development of the whole society.The whole paper is divided into four parts:Part One: Preface. After a brief review of the general development of Chinese classical MingBian logic before modern China, the focal point of the research in this paper is introduced, that is, the development of the science of logic hi modern China. ; We will discuss briefly its general development, its position and influence in the history of Chinese logic, and its influence upon the Chinese society at that time. Finally, the practical significance and value of this research will be pointed out.Part Two : The development of the science of logic in modern China.
