This article comprehensively expounds the relationship between LuXun and Expressionism of the West, beginning from theory and creation. On theory, it points out that LuXun's receipt of Expressionism experienced a roughly changing course, from shallowness to depth, from latency to clearness, and from unconsciousness to consciousness. On creation, it points out that his creating practice, such as "Crying Out", "Not Knowing Which Way to Go", " Weeds" and "Recompiling the Old Story", exactly vividly shows the changing process in which Expressionism made influence upon LuXun. The characteristics of Expressionism in "Crying Out" and "Not Knowing Which Way to Go" are only unconsciously scattered marks, while "Weeds" was the outcome of relatively conscious influence made by Expressionism , it's characteristics of Expressionism presenting wholly , however , this characteristics of Expressionism are expressed more obviously and become the dominant writing method in "Recompiling the Old Story". This article analyses LuXun's works through the angle of artistic method of Expressionism, and it is embodied in three aspects: (1) the principle of aesthetics (or: creating principle), for instance, it underlining that literature attacks importance to subjective expression, to expressing inner passion of characters, theme being most important and history being the tool of subjective expression, etc. (2) artistic processing method of Expressionism (making it strange, making it abstract, etc). (3) artistically expressing means and techniques of Expressionism (fable, symbol, metaphor, exaggeration, deformation, irony, etc). This article also compares LuXun with Kafka through the angle of Expressionism.
