The Probe Of Semantic Orientation Theory

Semantic orientation theory appeared in the early 1980's. It studies the objective phenomena and rules of semantic orientation. In this paper, the semantic orientation structure , which contains the components of the orienting and the oriented, reflects the relations between characters and objects of language's outer world .The orienting , which is subordinate to the oriented, has the semantic function on affecting the oriented. "The semantic affection" is the essential character of the orienting and is the criterion of distinguishing the orienting from the oriented. Semantic orientation ambiguity is a kind of special semantic structure ambiguity. The components of semantic orientation structure have the selectivity. A semantic orientation structure having several incompatible meanings is the essential premise. Semantic orientation theory is valuable to deepen the study of Chinese grammar. It is a contribution to common linguistics from Chinese grammatical scholars.This paper has a primitive probe into the several element problems of semantic orientation theory. I wish I can make some contribution to propelling the development of the grammatical theory.
