Shen Congwen was a disputed writer in modern Chinese literature history. The studies on him and his works are rich and colorful, but the research about him as a writer of literary theory hasn't got due attention. In fact, Shen wrote many essays on literary theory, many of which are summary of his writing experience and theoretical probing of some general writing problems, reflecting his rich thoughts of writing theory. This thesis lays emphasis on the research of Writing Subject. This paper holds that, Shen, as a writer and writing teacher, had some original views and practice on writing and the teaching of writing. Investigating his thoughts on writing theory does good to today's writing and the teaching of writing. Moreover, the research is also to replenish and enrich the recognition of his achievement from a profile.Shen's writing thoughts is poetic, grasping "the most beautiful and the most harmonious bearing". He looks forward to the kingdom of freedom, treats the world beyond utility, and persists in pursuing the beautiful. He is sympathetic, loving, idealistic and romantic. He believes that writing must originate from one's belief .One should look writing as a cause rather than play the "writer". He should be prudent in publishing his writings and pursue aesthetic feeling; he thinks that when one learns to write, he should be patient and put a premium on expanding the mind. He gave lectures casually, let the student write "freely", teaching whole heartedly. But Shen's thoughts on writing have their limitations. As his views mostly come from his own writing experience, they seem to be perceptual .On the whole, he belongs to the " author-type" writing teacher and lacks a systematic writing theory and the study on the laws of teachings.
