A Cultural Interpretation On Words Of Textile, Clothing And Other Employing Of Shouwenjiezi

XuShen' s Shuowenjiezi( 《说文解字》 ) in the Eastern Han Dynasty is a founding works of traditional philology. It' s not only the earliest integrated dictionary of our country, but also a treasure-house of ancient Chinese words. Characters and words are often the outcome of culture phenomena. They often reflect the reality that had been existed universally before they are brought about the first time. In terms of this aspect, Shuowenjiezi( 《说文解字》 ) is in fact an culture encyclopedia which reflects natural phenomena, productive labor, material culture, social relations, daily life, ideology and other fields.This paper bases on the semantic feature of textile and tries to comprehend the original meaning of concrete words in Shuowenjiezi ( 《说文解字》 ) as a whole. Then constructs a system of words from Shuowenjiezi( 《说文解字》 ) . The system just bases on the semantic of textile. The cultural features of textile and clothing and other employing in remote ages will be sketched if we can investigate the culture reserves of these words. At the same time, the cultural concepts in history of textile can reveal the deeper connotation of these words. This paper expounds the value on linguistics and culturology of Shuowenjiezi(《说文解字》)from a new angle.
