Vu-lag system is a traffic system which lasted for about hundreds of years in Tibetan region. During the long feudal serf society ,it reinforce the dominion of the administration to the Tibetan region and strengthen the contact of politics ,economy and culture between the Han nationality and the Tibetan greatly.Sichuan Tibetan region is located in the east of Sichuan province .It is one of the traditional Tibetan areas. Vu-lag system took effect in Yuan Dynasty in Sichuan Tibetan region and had its own characteristics in Qing Dynasty. In later Qing Dynasty, Zhao erfeng, the grand master of Sichuan and Yunnan, abolished TuSi system in Sichuan Tibetan region. At that time, he began to attach importance to Vu-lag system. In the Republic of China, the system was discussed widely by more and more people.The paper is based on most firsthand materials, some investigations by many other specialists, studies the topic in-depth. Through the exposition of the form, development and evolvement of Vu-lag system, reappears its function, characteristics and disadvantages. At the same time, the paper analyzes the reform of the Vu-lag system and the reason why the reform was failed.The paper consists five parts: The first one is about the evolution of the Vu-lag system, discussing its form, development and change, placing emphasis on its own characteristics in Qing Dynasty. The second one is about the different kinds of Vu-lag burden and the people who bear the Vu-lag burden. The third one is about the reform of Vu-lag system in the Republic of China, discussing theconditions of Vu-lag system in earlier period of the Republic of China and the attempts on reforming the system. It emphasizes on reforms when Liu wenhui charged the Sichuan Tibetan region. The forth one is about all the disadvantages of the system and the influences caused by it. The fifth one studies the reason of why the reform on Vu-lag system was failed based on lots of statistical data.
