The different-age peer is one of "significant others" that affect preschoolers' development. The different-age peer communicating takes for preschoolers' basic and typical type of interpersonal relationships, compared with the same-age peer communicating, which assumes obviously individual characters in nature, content, skill requirement, status of double sides, etc. These characters make it appear unique advantage in preschoolers' personality, social adjustment, etc. So, in view of only-child's development in our country, the research on the value of social development of the different-age peer communicating has important actual sense in preschoolers' healthy development.By on-the-spot observing and theoretical analyzing, the author discusses the following problems: the content, nature, social function and factors that affecting the different-age peer communicating and relevant educating countermeasures as well.The findings show that the peer relation of different-age preschoolers is a kind of "imbalanced and mutually dependent" relation. In communicating, though elder preschoolers might have more controlling power, it has many positive factors. It not only has developmental function in preschoolers' social cognition, feeling ability and prosocial behavior, but also has correcting function to under-communicating preschoolers or over-communicating ones. However, because of the imbalance of education tactics and the change of preschoolers' living environment, the preschoolers seldom have the chance to play with different-age peers, which causes that the value of the different-age peer communicating in preschoolers' development (especially social development) isn't paid attention to. In final, the author put forward several guidance strategies in detail. In one word, the purpose of the research is to make the different-age peer communicating be a kind of new educating form in modern kindergartens and new way of social learning of preschoolers and promote the value of the different-age peer communicating from the potential state to real one.
