In globalization era, the western countries headed by the United States, relying on their dominant positions in the international competition, spare no efforts to spread and infiltrate their culture to the other parts of the world so that they can popularize their life style, outlook on life and values as universal standard of conduct, give themselves the dominant positions in culture and achieve culture hegemony. The paper gives profound analysis of the origin of the western culture and the means of cultural infiltration implemented by the western countries. It also expounds the necessity to resist its infiltration into the developing countries which are faced with the challenge of the western culture, and puts forward the measures against the cultural infiltration . In the last chapter, the author expresses his opinion that we must establish the system of advanced socialist culture as an important part of our strategy of national security.I .The Origin and Motive Force of the Infiltration of the Western Culture.In this chapter, firstly, the author makes clear the definition of culture, West and infiltration, analyses the origin of the western culture, and illustrates that the motive force comes from the nature of the traditional western culture. Secondly, the author explains the driving force of the cultural infiltration stemming from the increasing effect on the international affairs . Thirdly, the author points out that the national strength in the fields of politics, economy , science and technology, and monopolization of media provide material conditions for the one-way cultural infiltration.II. Means of the Infiltration of the Western Culture.The cultural means is that for the benefit of the national strategy, the government carries on active propaganda through official and nonofficial channels. And in forms of cultural exchange, international communication and popular cultural products in order to influence people's way. of thinking. The application of cultural means is used in two ways: First, to attain the objective of foreign strategy and policy by means of cultural exchange such as activities of education, sports and arts; second, to carry out the stategy and policy by means of modern media such as radio and TV station, newspaper and magazine, software and internet.In this chapter, the author makes a brief introduction of the infiltration and expansion of the western culture through traditional cultural exchange between countries and modern international communication based on the advancement in the fields of economy, science and education. The author also illustrates how people from other countries are influenced by values, life style and way of thinking contained unknowingly ,and how these penetrate into the hearts and minds of the people without consciousness. As a result, the character of the national spirits will be lost.III. Necessity of Resistance to the Infiltration of the Western Culture and Means against It.In the past, military and politics were considered the vital components of national security, but the importance of culture was seldom mentioned. At present, however, people get to realize that national security is a comprehensive system, including the security of politics, economy, culture and military. Hence, the security of culture without the threat and the corrosive influence from other cultures is an important consideration and an essential component in the national security.Confronted with the all-pervasive infiltration of the western culture, China, as a developing country, increasingly gets to realize the importance and the special characteristics of culture in national security. For the benefit of our nation and our country as well as all human beings, we must take every measure to block the passage of the infiltration of the harmful part of the western culture.
