As one of the most important fields of official history books of Qing Dynasty, the War Records have hold a significant position for their research value. This paper takes the Records ofJinchuan Battle as a case study, with the main method of comparing, which reexamines its value as historical material and its significance in historiography. Firstly, we compare the Records ofJinchuan Battle with Qing's Memoir and Qing's official Files, trying to give the opinion on its historical material value as accurate as possible. Secondly, we compare it with two different types of history books to judge what its J-Teisai actually is, and reexamine the methods and process to create it, only to find its undeniable significance in historiography. Finally, we can draw a conclusion without any doubt that the book, the Records ofJinchuan Battle, has high historical value, of which the fruits are sure to accelerate the research and improve our knowledge and understanding on the War Records of Qing Dynasty and official historiography of Qing Dynasty.
