This paper attempts to examine the pole that phonetic loaning plays in the Chinese operation system by means of phonetic loaning expression based on the research achievements made by forefathers and scholars in the present age. Instead of restricting phonetic loaning within a concrete structure type, this paper looks at phonetic loaning as one of the expression means of Chinese system and adopts it to analyze the Chinese word-formation principle in order to discover phonetic loaning expression both in character-formation and in word-formation are isomorphic and in accordance with Chinese metaphoric mechanism which is determined by the mode of thinking of Chinese community. Meanwhile, the mode of thinking, in reverse, decides the research method for language. The very difference between the Chinese thinking mode and Western thinking mode indicates that Chinese literates should base their research upon characteristics of Chinese with the Chinese culture as the background instead of applying the structuralism theory mechanically in analyzing Chinese so as to develop and innovate our theory oriented to Chinese linguistics and characters. This thesis consists of the following four parts:I.Character-formation in Six categories and phonetic loaning. This chapter introduces the development of the Chinese character-formation method and the definition both of phonetic loans and of the phonetic loaning expression. It's proved that investigators should replace the manner of structure with the manner of expression to realize that the Chinese semiotic system is pluralistic, complementary and exoteric.II.Chinese word-formation and phonetic loaning expression. This part describes the development of the word-formation theory and pointed out the shortage of it. Besides, it adopts examples to testify that word-formation follows the principle of phonetic loaning expression.Besides, it points out phonetic loaning expression both in character-formation and in word-formation is isomorphic.III. Isomorphic character-formation and word-formation: the deep mechanism in phonetic loaning expression. It describes the isomorphic phenomenon between character-formation and word-formation in order to discover the psychological mechanism. Meanwhile, the deep mechanism in the phonetic loaning expression is found after comparing the difference between the mode of Chinese thinking and that of Western thinking. Finally, different thinking mode results in different language structure and researching method.IV. Conclusion.
