The complex distribution of vernacular and dialect in the northern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Municipality increasingly catches the eyes of linguists and scholars. The dialect and vernacular in Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County derive a greater variety for its geographical location in the boundary of three provinces (Hunan Province, Guangdong Province and Guangxi Province), and have been favored by many scholars ever since.Based on the field work done within the Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County area for two months, the writer focuses his research on the comparative phonological study of the one-hundred basic vocabulary after a comprehensive synchronic and diachronic study of five dialects, namely, Wuzhou Dialect, Minjia Dialect(ying), Qidu Dialect, Badu Dialect, Jiudu Dialect. Their intercommunity and otherness in initial consonant, vowel, tone, one-hundred vocabulary are pointed out. The paper ends with the property of these five dialects.The paper is composed of nine parts: Introduction, Phonological Study on Dialects of the Five Places, Phonological Features Study on Fuchuan Dialect, Comparative study on Initial Consonants, Comparative Study on Vowels, Comparative Study on Tones, Comparative Study on the One-hundred Basic Vocabulary, A Contrast Between Fuchuan Vernacular and its Peripheral Dialects, Linguistic Environment and Property of Fuchuan Dialect.Some materials are submitted for reference or further study in the appendix such as the phonetic system of Fuchuan Vernacular.
