| Xingshi Yan is an outstanding collection of novels in the MingDynasty. This book had been unknown for more than 300 years, since theend of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. The discoveryof Xingshi Yan is a significant event of vernacular novel research inrecent years. It provides the new and massive language material as the powerfulfoundation for us to study the Ming Dynasty Chinese. The interrogative sentenceis one of the sentence types which is classfied from the sentence expression. Thelanguage ingredient expressing interrogative information independently is called theinterrogative mark. Chinese interrogative marks can be divided into four kinds:interrogative intonation, interrogat word for tone, interrogative words and expressions,interrogative syntax structure. Chinese interrogative sentence system is extremely rich. Westudied the interrogative sentences of Xingshi Yan from the syntax, the semanticsand the language conducts through the interrogative marks. And we comparethe interrogative sentences of Xingshi Yan with the modern Chinese interrogativesentences, describing the development track of the interrogative sentence systemapproximately from the end of the Ming dynasty till now. The dissertation can bedivided into six parts as following:First part: Introduction of Xingshi Yan and its author.Second part: The study of interrogative sentence. Firstly we introduce thesurvey of the interrogative sentence research. Secondly we summarize theinterior relations between interrogative sentences and its classification, proposing theclassfying standard used in Xingshi Yan. Thirdly we describe the importance ofrhetorical question in the interrogative sentence system and the relations betweenrhetorical question and general interrogative sentence. Finally we explain theinterrogative mark and the interrogative spot .Third part: The research of general interrogative sentence of Xingshi Yan. westudy on the general interrogative sentence system by exhaustived statistics andclassified interpretation.
