As the ecological crisis going worse since the middle of 20th century, the environment protection against pollution has became the focal point that one should pay close attention to, and the moral support for the environment protection also been the common recognition of many scholars. Partly as a response to them, ethics of environment, a branch of academic study, emerged as the times require, advocating that moral consideration should be bestowed upon nature to treat natural world as human beings would themselves, then in order to harmonize relations between nature and man by regulating human behaviors. Recent years, ethics of environment inside and outside China has been researched into deeply, but the environmental problem is such a complicated problem with multi-leveled and multiple attributes. So, there are two values, namely Anthropocentrism and Non- Anthropocentrism, which facing against each other. Surrounding the sustainable development, this thesis is going to make a comparative inquisition of the two values, in order to expound a theory that Anthropocentrism is the only way out in dealing with the environmental problem and achieving sustainable development.Part one: the history of Anthropocentrism development. This part mainly aims at the illegibility of the definition of Anthropocentrism, and analyzes the history of Anthropocentrism development and the difference of each historic form, in order to give a theoretic premise for the further research.Part two: Anthropocentrism—the basis of Environmental ethics. Anthropocentrism and non-anthropocentrism are the main points of Environmental ethics studies. The two stand facing each other. Though the different schools of non- anthropocentrism have offered a new viewing angle for the studies of Environmental ethics, but the environmental problem can't be resolved without Anthropocentrism.Part three: the two prior principles of Anthropocentrism. As environmental values, the two prior principles of Anthropocentrism are the only way out in dealing with the environmental problems and achieving sustainable development.
