The "speaking item" in Putonghua proficiency test is the critical item to integrally test the candidates' Putonghua utilizing ability. The quality of "speaking item" directly decides the final score of the candidates. According to the rule of certain department, Chinese teachers in primary schools as well as middle schools and teachers in kindergartens should reach class A of the second level of Putonghua proficiency. According to the results of the tests, most Chinese teachers and children's teachers have reached the requirement, but still a few of them failed many time, and are facing unemployment due to the deficiency of Putonghua. To solve this hard problem, this thesis chooses 70 "speaking item" examples of the candidates in rural areas of Wuhan, who are less than 45 years old, and whose final scores are between 85 to 87, and tries to analyze the main problems in order to provide some countermeasures from some concrete evaluation aspects in "speaking item", such as pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, fluency and the speaking time of Putonghua. Meanwhile, this thesis holds different opinions about the assessing way and evaluation norms of "speaking item". This thesis mainly includes: the nature and purpose of Putonghua proficiency test, the requirement of "speaking item", the analysis of some examples, some strategies and skills for "speaking item", the deficiency of assessing norms and some suggestions.
