Stereotype is a kind of general stable viewpoint toward a certain social group. In general, stereotype is related with some character and behavior. In social psychology, the standpoint that whether stereotype is automatic or controllable is always disputable. At present, there are three theoretical opinions: one opinion is that stereotype is automatically activated, as long as a triggering stimulus is presented, social category and concerned stereotype are automatically activated. The stimulus is a member of social category or photograph of the member or label of the member and so on. Another opinion is that stereotype is automatically activated, but the automaticity is conditional, it is affected by many factors, for example social motive,cognitive resources and method of working, etc. The third opinion is that stereotype is divided two parts: activation and application,and the first part is automatically activated and the second part is controllable.People always focus on the occupation, one of the important research areas as stereotype. The goal of the present research is to test effect of feedback on implicit occupational stereotype, explore operational mechanism of the effect, and confirm the third opinion. Compared with previous researches, the research has three features: Firstly, exploring further the research of occupational stereotype; secondly, attempting to explore effect of feedback on implicit occupational stereotype; thirdly, attempting to explore effect of two goals on implicit occupational stereotype and operational mechanism of the effect.The main aim of experiment 1 is to test the effect of feedback on the activation and application of implicit occupational stereotype.
