In order to enhance children's interests of distance Chinese-learning, we make use of VRML to create the three-dimensional scene which is similar with a game. The children can voluntarily learn Chinese when they are attracted to explore information in the scene which is virtual space. So the scene can help us to realize the fact that children learn Chinese happily, which is the very purpose of scene education.Through the investigation into the situation of the distance Chinese-learning for children, this paper focuses on studying and designing the courseware of distance Chinese-learning for children on the basis of reviewing the study and application of VRML(The Virtual Reality Modeling Language) in education at home and broad. In this paper, four theories are applied to the courseware design, which are discovery learning theory, constructive learning theory, children's second language acquisition theory and humanitarian learning theory.The first chapter of the paper analyzes the feasibility of VRML-based courseware for children's Chinese-learning as the second language. And then, this part brings forward the disadvantages of the courseware which are not applied to the VRML technology, and further demonstrates the necessity of designing the VRML-based courseware.Next, summarizes the whole process of designing the VRML-based courseware of distance Chinese-learning for children. The third chapter designs the teaching plans of the courseware, including the teaching goals, teaching contents, teaching strategies and teaching scenes. The fourth chapter concentrates on the system design of the courseware, including the guiding strategies, interactive designs, interface designs and selection of media information. The fifth chapter introduces the key technologies and the technical problems in the process of developing the courseware, and puts forward the resolutions to such problems.At last, designs a sample of the courseware after theoretical discussions. This sample briefly analyzes the learners' characteristics, creates the study scene and exercise scene, and realizes the development of such courseware.
